Vegetable purees are often a great way for children to eat vegetables regularly. They are a source of vitamins and allow us to concentrate a high content of vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants in a single dish.
As we always tell you, it is necessary to reduce salt as much as possible in children’s meals , and for that it is advisable to resort to fresh vegetables and omit salt as a condiment.
Today we bring you 3 basic vegetable purées for the babies of the house, although they are also an excellent first course for the rest of the family. In them the vegetables are mixed in some cases with chicken and in others with fish.
They should also be the basis of the diet of children around one year of age, who still have chewing difficulties . You can leave the puree with some chunks for them to get used to chewing.
However, keep in mind that a common mistake that is often made is to abuse purées for their convenience, not offering children the possibility of learning to chew when they feel that curiosity. Offering exclusively pureed food can cause dental problems in children , and not only that, but not switching to solids at the right time can cause them to later refuse to chew and even generate a food phobia .
That is why we recommend that you alternate purees with solid food that is easy for them to chew. You can even let them explore it with their hands: bits of boiled broccoli, small tomato noodles, bits of chicken… In this way they exercise in their task of learning to chew .
